Harding students are not aware of situations they should avoid. I should know, I've been one of them.
I did not know where to go or what to do, especially, on the weekends. If you have not noticed Searcy is quite the boring place and Harding tends to grow old as days go by.
This is why I took the time to come up with a list of tips some people should abide too. Its nothing out of the ordinary, is simply common sense.
- If you can, DO NOT sign up classes at 8:00 am. Sleeping is essential
- Harding is located in the middle of the nowhere, so a car or getting a friend with a car is crucial
- Make sure you start right with your roommate. Remember, you are sharing a room this time.
- Don't make the student center your hang-out place for weekends. It seems fun at the beginning, but little by little its habitants cease to appear
- Attend to Downtown service on Sundays, or "Club Downtown like some people like to call it.
- Save money for Wally World because you never know when you need to drop around.
- if you like the whole belonging to a group mentality, Harding has social clubs for you. The process is sometimes annoying, but in the end is worth it.
- If you are pledging for a club, here's a tip: watch out for the Student Center during pledge week. It is your source of life, true, but it can also be a very painful experience to be caught off guard by any member of the club.
- Seize your free time as much as possible. Freshman usually have the advantage on this. Don't stay in your room and watch TV, go out and catch a movie with that southern someone you like. Southern hospitality really is heavenly.
- Make sure you have enough time for your finals
- Finally, if you can, leave early. There is nothing more depressive than staying in college when there is only 10 more students and a few squirrels around.
This may seem nonsense, but trust me, I've had my experiences.
Harding is really a great place, it's just that sometimes it can get a little dull.
